Thyroid concerns
An underactive or overactive thyroid changing your energy, weight and mood.
The thyroid sets the body's pace. Too little hormone slows things down; too much speeds them up. Both are diagnosed with a blood test and are treatable.
- Tiredness, weight gain, feeling cold, constipation (underactive)
- Weight loss, racing heart, sweating, anxiety (overactive)
- Hair or skin changes
- Neck swelling
- Changes in periods
A blood test measures thyroid hormones. Depending on results we may repeat testing, check antibodies, or arrange imaging. Treatment is tailored and monitored with follow-up blood tests.
- Take thyroid medicine at the same time each day
- Separate it from calcium and iron supplements
- Report new symptoms rather than adjusting doses yourself
- Keep follow-up blood tests
