Depression

Low mood or loss of interest that lasts most of the day, most days.

What it is

Depression is a medical condition affecting mood, energy, sleep and thinking. It is not laziness or weakness, and most people improve with support.

Common signs
  • Sadness, emptiness or irritability most days
  • Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Low energy or feeling slowed down
  • Sleeping or eating much more or much less
  • Trouble concentrating or making decisions
  • Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
What care may look like

We talk through your symptoms and history, and check for physical contributors such as thyroid levels, anemia or vitamin deficiency. Support often combines counselling, daily-routine changes and, when appropriate, medication chosen together with you and reviewed regularly.

What you can do now
  • Keep a simple daily routine, even a small one
  • Aim for daylight and gentle movement each day
  • Stay connected with one trusted person
  • Break tasks into very small steps
  • Limit alcohol, which deepens low mood
When to contact us
