Common infections
Coughs, colds, sore throats, urine and skin infections.
Most infections are viral and settle with time and comfort care. Some are bacterial and need treatment, so it helps to know which signs matter.
- Fever, aches, sore throat or cough
- Burning or frequent urination
- Redness, warmth and swelling of skin
- Symptoms that improve then suddenly worsen
We assess your symptoms and history, examine you, and test where it changes the plan — for example a urine test or throat swab. Antibiotics are used only where they help, to keep them working when you truly need them.
- Rest and fluids
- Treat fever and pain as advised on the label
- Hand washing to protect others
- Stay up to date on vaccines
- Finish any antibiotic exactly as prescribed
