High cholesterol

Fats in the blood at levels that raise the long-term risk of heart attack and stroke.

What it is

Cholesterol itself causes no symptoms; it is measured with a blood test and considered alongside your other risk factors.

Common signs
  • No symptoms
  • Family history of early heart disease
  • Higher risk with diabetes, high blood pressure or smoking
What care may look like

We measure a lipid panel, estimate your overall heart risk, and discuss options: eating pattern, activity, weight support where relevant, and medication when your risk warrants it. Levels are rechecked to confirm the plan is working.

What you can do now
  • More fibre: oats, beans, vegetables, fruit
  • Swap saturated fats for olive oil, nuts and fish
  • Move most days
  • Stop smoking
  • Keep alcohol low
When to contact us

Book if you are due a check, have a family history of early heart disease, or want to review whether a medicine is still right for you.

Contact the clinic

This website provides general health education and clinic-navigation information. It is not a diagnosis, treatment plan, or medical advice, and it does not create a patient-provider relationship. A licensed clinician confirms anything consequential for your care.
